Policies
- Students enrolling for lessons cannot be currently studying the same instrument or discipline with another private teacher without approval of the music instructor.
- Students and/or parents have the responsibility of communicating with their teacher if an instructional, scheduling, or other problem arises.
- Students and/or parents shall make a mutual effort with the current teacher to resolve any problems. If a decision to change teachers results, current teacher will be notified.
- New students are charged a $25 registration fee.
- Students must make every effort to be on time for lessons and classes. All lessons will end at scheduled time. Faculty will wait for a student for fifteen minutes beyond the start of the scheduled lesson time. Students are asked to do the same in the event of a teacher’s late arrival
- Suzuki Strings of St. Petersburg reserves the right to dismiss any student because of lack of interest or progress, frequent unexcused absences (more than two consecutive lessons), frequent tardiness, behavioral problems, delinquency in payment of tuition, and/or failure to abide by policies.
- Regular attendance at lessons, classes, rehearsals, and recitals is expected. Students are charged for all lesson, classes and ensembles for which they register, including those missed due to student absence.
- Parental supervision of children is expected at all times.
- Teacher will be notified in the event that an adult other than the parent is responsible for their child during a given class time.
- Any missed individual lessons or group classes will not be made up and there will be no refund or credit of tuition.
- In the event the instructor cancels a lesson or class, a make-up lesson will be offered at a mutually convenient time. An individual lesson teacher will offer a minimum of two reasonable make-up date alternatives.
- If a make-up lesson/class is missed, it will not be rescheduled.
- If lessons/classes have been suspended because tuition payment is delinquent, no make-up lessons will be given.
Payment
- Tuition payment and fees are due and payable at the time of registration. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Suzuki Strings of St. Petersburg. Tuition is due on or prior to the first of the month in which the term begins. After the fifth of the month, a late payment will be incurred.
- Students/parents may elect to make partial payments on their semester tuition. Election of the installment plan does not exempt the student/parent of obligation to pay for the entire semester.
- Tuition must be paid in full before students may register for the following semester. A student’s reserved lesson slot will not be held for the following session without payment.
- There will be a $30 charge for returned checks
Refunds
- Tuition is fully refunded if the student withdraws before the first lesson, with the exception of the non-refundable registration fee.
- If a student withdraws prior to the fourth semester week, they receive a refund or credit for the remaining lessons, minus a two-week surcharge. No refunds are granted beginning the fifth week of the semester.
- Request for withdrawal from individual or class instruction must be submitted in writing to the Suzuki Strings of St. Petersburg. This request must be received thirty days before the final lesson.
